Tegra 2 tablets to ship with Android 3.0
Many OEMs are currently accepting orders to build Tegra 2 tablets. The shipping version of Tegra 2 chip works at 1GHz and has two ARM Cortex A9 cores and tablets usually have 512 to 1GB of memory.
The biggest one we’ve seen listed is 10 inches and has a 1024×600 resolution screen, of course with multi touch support. It has 802.11 g/b/n support as well as two USB 2.0 slots, headphone, DC-IN, two 1W speakers as well as 1 dock output.
Let’s not forget the 1.3 Mpixel camera that can grow up to 5Mpixel, Bluetooth, GPS also included. 3G is also optional and can come on these tablets.
This is just one of the versions you can order and of course they can wary. This particular manufacturer, that we would rather leave unnamed, can sell you such a tablet for between $515 and $577 a piece, quite a steep price if you ask us.
The good thing is that currently this tablet comes with Android 2.2 but in the future it will be upgradable to Android 3.0. Most of the OEM designs we’ve seen weights 600 grams (1.2lbs) to 700 grams (1.35lbs), about the same as an iPad.
Most Tegra 2 tablets will still unfortunately show up only in 2011, but not too long from today
